Are you constantly told by your special someone to use your time more productively than just binging on Netflix? And have you been constantly replying to them, with a smirk on your face to leave you alone. Well, fear no more because now you have an excuse to ask them to join you to binge together.
According to a study by the University of Aberdeen, the more films and series a couple enjoys together the closer and committed they feel to each other. Dr Sarah Gomillion the lead author of the study notes that not only does watching Netflix bring couples closer together but it actually gives them a greater sense of confidence and independence in the relationship that they have not felt before. Indeed 71% of 18-29 year olds who are in a relationship thinks that Netflix dates are a great way to share an evening together.
Furthermore, the study states that watching TV together helps couples make up with their favourite Netflix characters in the case they don’t have any real life mutual friends. So instead of hours of chats about their mutual friends, couples would end up with a serious discussion on if Eleven is really gone for good from Stranger things.
Last but not the least in the case you’re not all that into Netflix binge and chill, the study notes that reading the same book and later discussing it can have the same butterfly effect. So to those who want to experiment the results of this study together but still think your partner needs to loosen up on the binging then picking up a book is a fantastic way to get closer as well.
